Alarming statistics show that bullying is an epidemic in this country. Not only are kids subjected to bullying by their classmates but seemingly intelligent adults, in management positions, bully those under them. I couldn't imagine ever working under such conditions but the last job that I had threw me smack in the middle of what can only be described as a "war zone". The absolute truth is you could do everything right but the supervisor would find something to yell about. She wasn't happy unless she was keeping the office on edge and in turmoil. She would go out of her way to find something wrong with what you did, even if she had to change the rules and invent something.
Anyone that knows me, knows that I don't usually let get things get to me, yet everyday on my way to work, I would pray the whole way there for protection from that woman! I would surround myself with God's light of protection and ask for help to get through the day. It was that demoralizing!
Now I find myself facing the subject again, only this time it is my daughter being intimated by her boss. Different job, different person but pretty much the same situation. It has been at the forefront of my mind everyday. This being a new job for her, I know he is pushing her buttons and after all he did warn her that he is an "ass" during the interview (at least he admitted it). Even so, it doesn't make it any easier.
I know what she is going through and she doesn't have the years of experience that I had so it is rougher on her. I feel for what she is facing everyday and I continue to pray for her, asking for her to have stamina and peace of mind.
Thinking about this tonight, the light bulb finally went off! We both need to pray for her boss too! For whatever reason he is like he is, my guess is a lack of self esteem that he manifests into the self proclaimed "ass" that he is, God is stronger than this guy's alter-ego. The Bible tells us to pray for our enemies. SO BE IT! From here on in, I will be praying for both of them! Maybe she will even look him in the eye and tell him that she is praying for him.! I bet that will throw him off balance! I did pray for my former supervisor, although I have to admit it was only superficial. I knew better too. The key to prayer is to fervently put your heart and soul into it.
