God's Presence is in Henryville Indiana

On March 2,2012, 2 tornadoes leveled the small town of Henryville Indiana leaving in its wake complete destruction. Many groups of volunteers took time off from their jobs, family life and the comforts of a safe home and traveled to help the people clean up and restore some type of normalcy. Donations poured in from all over. A local news channel followed  the efforts of a friend of ours who spearheaded a group and spent the week in Henryville helping clean up the debris. (Even God uses Facebook).
Home for a couple of days, he is heading back down to Henryville to continue helping out. The stories he related about this experience are incredible but what he continued to point out was how amazed he was at the masses of church groups that showed up to help. He said that "you could feel God in Henryville"! Not surprising to me, since I have no doubt that God set various plans in motion to get these people help, not just for the help itself but perhaps to show the world that never mind all the bureaucracy, His people will be there for others and nothing is going to stop them!!
The reason I am saying this is because, all last week, the news kept reporting that donations should go through the Red Cross and some member of some rescue group tried to get people to stop running down to Henryville to help. Certainly, disaster organizations, serve a need in these situations but trying to squelch and channel the generosity of the public so that only these organizations have control over donations and physical help is egotistic to say the least. Besides, the general public is bogged down by paperwork and will mobilize in a heart beat.
Thank God no one listened and groups from schools, churches and even groups of friends from all over, headed to Henryville armed with donations of supplies and money to physically help with the clean up. I am proud of everyone who took the initiative to respond and those that donated to the relief funds. I know for a fact that a tremendous amount of growth and bonds grew from these experiences. I am just as certain that when God sets a plan in motion, no human, government or bureaucracy is going to stop him or get in His way!
