The Face of Greed - Black Thursday/Friday

Shopping on Black Friday has always been a tradition for some. Personally, I went once in my life and found it to be so useless that the one time was enough for me. People were just ridiculous!

The past few years however, some of the big box stores have decided to start their sales on Thanksgiving Day instead of waiting for the traditional day after sale, not giving a second thought that their employees would be forced to give up their holiday tradition and time with family.

They claim it was to boost sagging sales. Really? That is the sorriest excuse for greed that I have heard! I think it is more like dumbing down the American people so they can get rid of more of our values and traditions.

I recently made a post on Face Book about this and was astonished at the inner selfishness that came through on one commenter. I am certain this reflects the thinking and excuses of the majority of those who decide they have to shop on Thanksgiving. (I have since deleted the post to protect the identities of the commenters but your can certainly get the idea.). People will use any excuse they can to justify their actions. It is shameful! It doesn't matter if they act like barbarians or are the sweetest of shoppers, it is pure selfishness and greed.

To all of you who buy into the Black Thursday Frenzy which used to be Black Friday, do you people realize how many people are having to miss Thanksgiving dinner with their families because they have to work that day because of you? I bet none of you even care do you? You think that what is under the tree is a measure of your success as a parent or a person? WRONG answer all the way around!
I don't buy into the Black Friday NOW Black Thursday frenzy and I will tell you that you are not saving any money and the great deals that you think you are getting are not really great deals because these same items will be discounted afterwards and before Christmas!
Don't you also realize that by changing Black Friday to begin on Thanksgiving it is the Progressive Socialists AKA Spawns of Satan trying to subtly further undermine our traditions and values.
Commenter 1 I participate in this each year, and my family goes together to have fun and spend time, and we do get some great deals because a lot of the products are not out after that. As far as the employees go, I know a lot of the stores have their employees volunteer...

Commenter 1*no disrespect intended, you know i luv ya...

Commenter 2 Most Employees DO NOT volunteer they are put on the schedule to work and they should have kept it on Fridays not screw with every one's holiday just for the almighty dollar! You think you get great deals but if you really are watching, in reality you do not.

Commenter 1 well I will agree some of the customers are way out of line with their behaviors and act like barbarians, but I am not one of those, its a lot of fun to me because I love shopping and the crowds and everything.

Commenter 2 The point is that it used to be on Friday that was all fine and good but then the past few years, corporate greed started the sales on Thursday and instead of standing up and saying "no" and boycotting the stores, the greed of this throw away society . You are all being used by the very corporations that you claim to despise!

Commenter 1 I am aware...
Commenter 2  Most Employees DO NOT volunteer!!!!!!!! I had 2 work both days last year... & i did get off thanks giving & do not know why!!! I even had to work Christmas Eve Last Year & the people just keep coming in 1 hr be for they close!!!!!!!!!!

Commenter 2 That is because those people are selfish and inconsiderate. I can understand it if they too had to work that day or if it is an emergency but most don't.
Commenter 2 got off thanks giving this year i mean

Commenter 3 I think it's disgusting because a lot of those people are admitting they are willing to hurt other people and do whatever it takes to "get the deal." In my retail experience the products were the cheapest products too, that could be offered for that deal and they were not aimed for quality when manufactured. Some items were also half the size of what it would normally be on the shelf or made from material of less quality. You may get a better processor in a laptop but it would lack in other areas of the laptop to save money when manufacturing.
I find it sad to see that anyone would lose their life or risk their life over a material item.
Also, it was never an option for me when I worked retail to have the day off. No extra pay either for the extended effort on those days. Everyone was required to put in hours and be on hand to be called in from my experience.

These people care little about the spouses and families of employees who are scheduled to work that day. Spouses who will be home alone on that day, probably eating a TV dinner, or children young and older who have to spend the holiday without their parent when they traditionally shared they the Thanksgiving meal. The only thing these people care about is themselves and how much they can put under the tree. Sad really sad!

It might not even be so bad if the stores closed for the day and opened in the evening but, heaven forbid they would think of their employees! Believe me most of  the employees DO NOT want to be in that store.

For all the stores that close on Thanksgiving so their employees can spend time with their families! Kudos to all of you!!! You will get my money before I spend a dime in these other stores. I sincerely hope others will also stand up and boycott these stores!
