For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. -Ephesians 6:12
With the long list of upheaval in this country, corruption in government, lies and manipulation from the Obama Administration, terrorists across the globe, the UN's power play, power grabbers worldwide, gun grabbers, a hideous economy and more, it is easy and natural as human beings to become angry at these enemies of not only this country and its freedoms but the world. We easily become bogged down by the outside negativity that it eats at us from within.
Yesterday, while reading "Beautiful Outlaw" by John Eldredge, the light bulb off! Somewhere between Chapter 10, 'Humility' and Chapter 11, 'Trueness', I clearly understood that we are to pray for our enemies. Ouch! Can I really do that? I have very strong political views that I don't bother to hide. How am I supposed to pray for my enemies, or even those that I perceive to be my enemies? How do I pray for those who have dark or blackened souls that I despise? Do they even have souls to pray for?
Obediently, I put down the book and started to pray. It was harder than I thought. I was reminded that by praying for my enemies, I am actually releasing any power they (my enemies) have over me and empower myself through God and my Saviour, Jesus Christ. I did feel better, more empowered and very peaceful. God IS in charge!
I will continue to speak out against the wickedness of those politicians who are trying to chain the American people and I will continue to speak out against the wickedness of the world. I will continue to enlighten people to the truth but I WILL pray for the enemy daily as should we all.
“Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,”- Matthew 5:44
“…bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.” – Luke 6:28
