First off, LEAVE Medicare and Social Security alone! Seniors have a hard enough time just coping in this economy. They worked all their lives and they continue to get slapped in the face with cuts and cuts and more cuts! The financial cushion that many of them had has been devoured by the economy and health issues that a combination of medicare and their own private insurance policies failed to cover. I know many seniors who had to pay out of pocket thousands and thousands of dollars to pay for medical costs AFTER the fact!
Secondly, LEAVE entitlements to military families, veterans and the disabled alone! Thirdly, leave the working class alone and that includes Obamacare! My husband and I like millions of the working class are no longer considered middle class. We make less that $50,000 a year and live on a very tight budget. There is no room for extravagant purchases, any kind of vacations or major spending. I take advantage of coupons and sales on groceries just to put food on the table.
Entitlement cuts must be made to the welfare leeches, medicaid and food stamps (these are NOT those who temporarily need help due to unemployment or other financial situations). These people pop out kids like breeding rabbits just to increase their entitlements! Remember "Obamaphone Momma"? She must weigh at least 300+ pounds. People like this get more than enough food stamps to shove junk food in their mouths while sitting on the couch vegetating. This is where the cuts should begin. These people have been given every opportunity to better themselves but thanks to the generosity forced upon taxpayers by the government, these people find it easier to sit on their dead butts and collect the entitlement checks every month, rather than get out there and do something about their situation. If cuts to their dole were made, they will squawk and cry for awhile until they realize it gets them nowhere. Only then will they finally decide to become productive citizens .
Next, stop entitlements to kids of illegal aliens. These parents invaded our borders, compete with Americans for jobs and still get entitlements for their kids. That is just plain wrong and a major burden on taxpayers! While we are at it, the income tax reform is a must in this case. A large percentage of Illegals are filing income taxes and claiming dependents that aren't theirs or even live in this country! They collect thousands of dollars in income tax refunds every year!
Congress issues 1.5 million visas to foreigner workers per year. It is also time to stop put a stop to this. These people come here, they compete against Americans for jobs. It is bad enough that American workers have to fight the illegal aliens in this country but to fight for jobs against foreigners on visas is a double whammy.
Federal funding to other countries must also be stopped. It is time for this government to start looking after American citizens and to stop sending money to all of these other countries. Many of these countries, Egypt, Brazil, and Mexico, for example, should not be getting any of our money. That would save a huge amount of money right there.
The government waste in this system that must go.
Congress had also better be look at themselves and initiating cuts in their own ranks instead of continuing to shove the silver spoon into their own mouths. They are no better than the rest of us.
I am not a fan of Warren Buffett but in an interview back in July with CNBC, he offers one of the best ideas concerning the debt ceiling and the funding cuts.
According to Buffett public pressure on Congress will move mountains!
The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds)took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple!
The people demanded it. That was in 1971 - before computers, e-mail, cell phones, etc.
Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took one (1) year
or less to become the law of the land - all because of public pressure.
If you pass this on to a minimum of twenty people on your address list and contact your lawmakers in Congress and in turn ask each of those you pass this on to to do likewise. In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message and the pressure will be on.
Buffett also stated: "I could end the deficit in 5 minutes," he told CNBC. "You just
pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more
than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible
for re-election.
Congressional Reform Act of 2012
1. No Tenure / No Pension.
A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no
pay when they're out of office.
2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social
Security.
All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the
Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into
the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the
American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.
3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all
Americans do.
4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise.
Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.
5. Congress loses their current health care system and
participates in the same health care system as the American people.
6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the
American people.
7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void
effective 12/1/12. The American people did not make this
contract with Congressmen/women.
Congress made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in
Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers
envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their
term(s), then go home and back to work.
If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will
only take three days for most people (in the U.S. ) to receive
the message. Don't you think it's time?
THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS AND THE DEFICIT!
The question remains, does Congress have the integrity to do this?
I know Congress won't do this on their own but with mounting continued pressure from Americans, they will have no choice. Let's do this!
